“Tenants of the House,” the film adaptation of Wale Okediran’s acclaimed political novel, is set to return to theatres starting today April 11, 2025. The film, directed by renowned filmmaker Kunle Afolayan, will be screened in 37 cinemas across Nigeria and Ghana.
The announcement confirms an extensive rollout spanning multiple cities and states, including venues in Abuja, Port Harcourt, Enugu, Jos, and throughout southwest Nigeria. The distribution also extends internationally, with a screening location in Kumasi, Ghana.
This theatrical re-release represents a significant push to bring the political drama to wider audiences. The film explores the complex power dynamics and political intrigues within Nigeria’s legislative chambers, as depicted in Okediran’s novel.
Major exhibition partners include establishments like The Jays Cinema in Abuja, Grenhauz Cinema with locations in both Port Harcourt and Enugu, Ozone Cinema in Yaba, and various regional theatres, including Rainbow Cinema in Onitsha and Platinum Cinema in Kano.
First released to critical acclaim for its realistic portrayal of Nigerian politics, “Tenants of the House” provides audiences with an insider’s view of legislative processes and political manoeuvring within government structures. The film’s return to theatres comes at a time of heightened political awareness in the country.
