Ahead of the Speech and Prize Giving Day ceremony slated for Saturday, 19th of July 2025, St. Anne’s Secondary School, Otukpo, Benue State, has postponed its Visiting Day today Sunday, 13th July 2025. In a notice posted to parents and guardians on it WhatsApp group, the school’s management explained that “Parents/Guardians will have the opportunity to see their wards after the Graduation Ceremony on Saturday, 19th July 2025.”

St. Anne’s Secondary School Otukpo announced recently its annual Graduation, Speech and Prize Giving Day Ceremony holding on Saturday, 19th July 2025 at the school compound by 10:00am.
The event is set to hold under the distinguished Chairmanship of Dr Peter Adikwu, Head of Department of Microbiology, Federal University of Health Sciences, Otukpo. His Lordship, most Rev. Michael Ekwoyi Apochi, the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Otukpo, will serve as the Chief Host and Hon. Prince Maxwell Ogiri, Chairman, Otukpo Local Government, will serve as the Co-Host.
The celebration will feature speeches, recognitions, and awards to honour the academic and extracurricular achievements of students of one of the foremost missionary schools in Benue.
Notable dignitaries expected at the event include Dr. (Mrs.) Anyalewa Ajonye who will be the Guest Speaker and Professor S.S. Obeka, Vice Chancellor of Wesley University, as Special Guest of Honour. The Royal Guest of Honour will be His Royal Highness, Dr. John Onominya Eimonye.
The ceremony will also be graced by Ambassador Paul Oga Adikwu and Hon. Agbo Uloko (G.L.O.) as Fathers of the Day, while Chief Mrs. Margaret Lawani and Chief (Dr.) Mrs. Lady Diana Ochoga will serve as Mothers of the Day.
The organisers of the event, Rev. Sr. Roseann Ene Okafor (SHCJ), Principal of St. Anne’s Secondary School, and Rev. Fr. Dr. Francis Atama, Secretary of Catholic Education Services, have extended invitations to stakeholders and well-wishers across the community.
Also, ahead of the Graduation, Speech and Prize Giving Day, St. Anne’s Otukpo received canonical visitors from the Society Leadership Team (SLT) of the Society of the Holy Child Jesus (SHCJ). The team monitors the activities of Reverend Sisters who are members of the congregation. An April 2022 release on the SHCJ website revealed that the Society of the Holy Child Jesus elected the Society Leadership Team at a Delegate Session of its 28th General Chapter in Nemi, Italy. The team is led by Sr. Pauline Darby, a member of the European Province, with Sisters Susan Igelle Gifty Aban and Oyidu Okwori from the African Province and Sister Carmen Torres of the American Province. Their tenure covers 2022 to 2028. On the sisters from the African Province made this visit on behalf of the SLT.

According to the school’s website, “St. Anne’s Secondary School began in 1968 at St Augustine’s primary school compound Otukpo with a population of about 22 students, under the headship of an Irishman Mr. White and his wife. When Mr. and Mrs. White completed their contract in 1969, Bishop Murray invited the Sisters of the Society of the Holy Child Jesus (SHCJ) to come to administer and help staff the school. This congregation of Sisters (SHCJ) has been active in Girls’ education in Nigeria since 1930.”
