The alleged kidnapping incident reported in River Park Estate has been confirmed as a hoax orchestrated by one Nnandi Agu, according to a statement released by the FCT police. Confirming AkweyaTV’s earlier reports, the Police Public Relations Officer in the Federal Capital Territory, SP Josephine Adeh, signed the release dated January 20, 2024, saying no actual kidnapping occurred.

According to SP Josephine Adeh, Nnandi Agu, a resident of Games Village, allegedly staged his own kidnapping in a deceitful attempt to defraud his brother, who resides in River Park Estate. The statement said, “The suspect is currently in police custody undergoing interrogation. While investigation is still ongoing, further development would be communicated to the public.”
The FCT police however was silent about the allegations of complicity of the police posted to the River Park Estate made in a video available on AkweyaTV’s YouTube channel. This bizarre case highlights the importance of thorough police work in uncovering the truth behind seemingly alarming incidents as have been seen in the Federal Capital Territory over the past couple of months with kidnappings and ‘one-chance’ robberies.
