Rivers Police Arrest ‘Pastor’ Over Alleged Child Abuse in Viral Video

The Rivers State Police Command has arrested a 41-year-old pastor in connection with a disturbing viral video showing the alleged dehumanisation of minors in a church setting that has sparked public outrage across social media platforms.

Ifediorah Onyeibor Joseph was taken into custody following swift police action after the distressing footage began circulating online, depicting what authorities describe as the mistreatment of children within his church premises.

According to preliminary investigations conducted by the Rivers State Police Command, Pastor Ifediorah allegedly organised a three-day programme specifically for children in his church, claiming the event was for “spiritual cleaning” purposes. The pastor reportedly told participants and their families that he had been inspired by the Holy Spirit to conduct the controversial programme.

Police operatives, acting on coordinated intelligence gathering, moved quickly to arrest the pastor along with several church members who were present at the scene during the incident. The arrests were made as part of the command’s immediate response to the viral video that had generated significant public concern about the welfare of the minors involved.

The police have launched a comprehensive investigation to fully unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident, with authorities promising that further updates will be made available to the public as more information emerges from their ongoing enquiries.

Commissioner of Police for Rivers State, CP Olugbenga A. Adepoju, has called for calm and patience from members of the public while the investigation continues. In his statement, the CP stated the command’s dedication to protecting vulnerable populations, particularly children, and urged citizens to report any suspicious activities or concerns to the nearest police station or other security agencies.
