The Rydeem of Light Gospel Reggae Festival was held in Angwan Tasha, Kaduna State, on Monday, April 21, 2025, and could be described as a resounding success, with over 30 artists taking to the stage and leaving the audience yearning for more. The festival is an annual event organised by the Kristofarians, a group that uses gospel reggae music as a tool for soul-winning and promoting the gospel through Christianity.
The event featured a diverse lineup of artists from different parts of the country, including Wonderman, Elchrisendo, Ras PZ, Minister Bunmi, MaPraise, Kingfranki Holyflames, Manasseh Bulus, the Sons of Zion, Shatta Zion, and Jah Refuge, among others.
The high point of the festival was the large number of souls saved during the altar call, achieving the event’s primary objective.

In his opening remarks, the chairman of the event, Mr. Odoh Diego Okenyodo, explained that the Kristofarians are different from the Rastafarians, detailing the origins of the latter’s name. The director of the group, Mama Lucee, expressed gratitude to the people of Kaduna State for their warm reception and announced plans to tour other states in Nigeria, including Kano and Lagos.
Professor Wilfred Uji, a professor of history who performed at the event, mentioned that he had long searched for a group celebrating gospel reggae music and was happy to be among the Kristofarians.
The festival is significant because it provides a platform for artists to spread the gospel through music while promoting unity and fellowship among Christians. The audience were thoroughly entertained and inspired by the performances, with many moved to accept Christ during the altar call.
The Rydeem of Light Gospel Reggae Festival is proof of the power of music in spreading the gospel. With its success in Kaduna, the festival is set to make waves in other parts of Nigeria.
