The victory adds to an impressive Grammy portfolio for Tems, who received three nominations this year, including Best Global Music Album for “Born in the Wild” and Best R&B Song for “Burning,” bringing her career total to eight nominations.

In a statement released Monday, Nigerian President Bola Tinubu celebrated Tems’ achievement through his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, praising her “unique artistry” that has “brought pride to Nigeria on the global stage for the second time.”

The 67th Grammy Awards, held at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, saw several historic moments, including Beyoncé’s “Cowboy Carter” winning both Best Country Album and the coveted Album of the Year award – her first in the latter category despite being the most decorated artist in Grammy history. Kendrick Lamar dominated the general field, winning both Record and Song of the Year, while Chappell Roan was named Best New Artist.
