The family departed Quirónsalud Palmaplanas Hospital on Saturday afternoon, according to Spanish publication Ultima Hora. The newborn has been named Miquel, reportedly honouring Perelló’s late father, who died in April 2023 following an extended illness.

The arrival of Miquel expands the family that began when the couple welcomed their first son, Rafael, in 2022. Nadal and Perelló, who met as teenagers in their hometown of Manacor, Mallorca, married in 2019 after years together as childhood sweethearts.

The birth comes months after Nadal concluded his legendary tennis career, retiring with 22 Grand Slam titles and an Olympic gold medal from Beijing 2008. Perelló attended his retirement tribute at the 2025 French Open while visibly pregnant.

During his emotional farewell ceremony at Roland Garros, Nadal paid tribute to his wife’s support throughout his career. “You are my best life partner; we couldn’t have imagined in 2005 that we would be here 20 years later as a family,” he said, addressing Perelló in the audience.

The 22-time Grand Slam champion acknowledged the challenges his career placed on their relationship, saying she had “always been there for me, supporting me from a position that wasn’t always easy.”

Nadal has previously spoken about how becoming a father transformed his perspective. In a recent appearance on the Spanish television show El Hormiguero, he described how his first son, Rafael, changed his outlook on both victories and defeats.

“In most ways, it’s been for the better because, even if I’ve lost or gotten injured, coming home and seeing him changes my mood,” Nadal reflected about the impact of fatherhood.

The couple’s enduring relationship began in Manacor, where both grew up, and has weathered Nadal’s demanding professional tennis career that spanned over two decades. Europa Press news agency confirmed that the name Miquel serves as a meaningful tribute to Perelló’s father, adding personal significance to the family milestone.
