The Pan African Writers Association (PAWA), in collaboration with the Ugandan Women Writers Association (FEMRITE) and Makerere University in Uganda, has announced an eagerly anticipated “International Literature Conference.” This grand event aims to celebrate the life and exceptional literary works of the renowned author and Nobel laureate, Abdulrazak Gurnah. The conference is scheduled to take place from November 22nd to 24th, 2023, at the prestigious Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda.
The core theme of the conference revolves around “Celebrating the Life and Works of Abdulrazak Gurnah for the Future of African Literature.” Distinguished scholars, writers, and enthusiasts from across the globe are cordially invited to participate in this intellectual gathering. The conference will encompass various sub-themes, including aspects such as Abdulrazak Gurnah’s life and literary achievements, migration’s influence on African literature, literature in African languages, and the pivotal role of technology in the literary realm.
Authors and scholars eager to contribute to this remarkable event are encouraged to submit their papers via email to firstname.lastname@example.org, while also copying email@example.com and firstname.lastname@example.org. The deadline for the submission of full papers is set for September 25th, 2023. Authors are requested to include their abstracts on the first page of their submissions.
Hilda Twongyeirwe, the Secretary of the Organising Committee, expressed heartfelt gratitude to those who have already submitted their papers following the initial Call. She also advised against resending papers unless essential changes had been made.
