Uppsala University’s Department of Earth Sciences has announced an upcoming interdisciplinary summer school focused on the impacts of climate extremes, scheduled for June 16-19, 2025.
The four-day programme is designed specifically for doctoral students and early-career postdoctoral researchers, with opportunities also available for students completing their master’s degrees.
The event will be free to attend for all accepted participants.
Daily sessions will run from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM and feature thematic lectures covering various aspects of climate extremes, including differential impacts, public health implications, and applications of artificial intelligence in climate science.
The programme balances theoretical knowledge with practical application through exercise sessions where participants will apply methodologies discussed during lectures. Additional components include soft skills training in academic communication and participatory research, along with networking opportunities, including a social dinner.
Participants will present their work from the exercise sessions, providing an opportunity for academic discourse and feedback from peers and instructors.
Applications for the summer school are currently open, with a submission deadline of March 14, 2025. Successful applicants will be notified by April 18, 2025.
