Nyesom Wike will host a reception this Thursday to celebrate FCT athletes who competed in recent national sporting events, including the 2022 National Sports Festival and the 7th and 8th National Youth Games.
The announcement, made Tuesday through the FCT sports department in Abuja, highlights the administration’s commitment to recognising athletic achievement and promoting sports development in the territory.
“We are committed to the development of sports in the FCT, and we will continue to create the enabling environment for sports to thrive,” Wike said, emphasising that the recognition aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s vision of youth empowerment and talent development.
The minister praised the athletes’ sacrifice, patriotism, and determination, noting that their performances have brought honour to the Federal Capital Territory.
The reception is part of broader initiatives to strengthen sports development in the FCT and engage young people in productive activities.
