The Yobe State Primary Healthcare Board conducted a one-day orientation on Monday for Community Engagement Focal Persons and Monitoring and Evaluation officers from across local government areas, aiming to strengthen grassroots healthcare delivery through better data management and community involvement.

The training session took place at the Medical and Health Workers Union Conference Hall in Damaturu on July 7, 2025, with participants drawn from various Local Government Areas throughout the state.
Executive Secretary of the Yobe State Primary Healthcare Board, Dr. Babagana Kundi Machina, formally opened the orientation through his representative, Deputy State Health Promotion Officer Bulama Yaro.
In his opening remarks, Kundi stressed the critical importance of accurate data and community participation in driving health sector performance across the state.

The Executive Secretary noted that effective community engagement remains essential for promoting disease prevention and increasing uptake of healthcare services among local populations.
State Community Engagement Focal Person Abubakar Abba welcomed participants to the training session, representing the Director of Community and Family Health, Ibrahim Maikasuwa. Abba noted the strategic role that focal persons and M&E officers play in advancing the healthcare board’s mission.
The orientation is designed to produce several key improvements in Yobe State’s primary healthcare system.
Officials expect the training to significantly enhance data reporting capabilities across local government areas, providing more reliable information for healthcare planning and resource allocation.
The programme is aimed at fostering stronger ties between communities and the health sector, potentially increasing trust and participation in health programmes.
Healthcare board officials anticipate that the training will enhance the overall effectiveness of primary healthcare services throughout Yobe State by improving coordination between community engagement focal persons and monitoring and evaluation officers.
