The race for the chairmanship of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) gathered fresh momentum on Wednesday as the candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dr. Moses Paul, concluded his grassroots campaign with a massive rally in Gwarimpa.

The highlight of the event was the joint appearance of two prominent national leaders of the party, Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, who stood side by side to publicly endorse Dr. Paul.

In a dramatic show of unity, the duo lifted his hands before a jubilant crowd, presenting him as the “best candidate” to lead AMAC into a new era of development.

Ahead of Saturday’s election, Dr. Moses Paul embarked on an intensive grassroots campaign, moving from community to community across the council. From Nyanya to Karu, Jikwoyi to Wuse, and Garki to Gwarimpa, he engaged residents directly, listening to their concerns and outlining his plans for inclusive governance.

His campaign focused on:

Strengthening primary healthcare centres

Improving public primary school infrastructure

Boosting youth empowerment and vocational training

Enhancing sanitation and environmental services

Promoting transparency and accountability in council finances

Supporters described his approach as people-oriented, with small group engagements, ward meetings, and door-to-door interactions forming the backbone of his strategy.

At different stages of the campaign, Dr. Moses Paul was seen canvassing for votes alongside Peter Obi, who emphasized prudent resource management and accountability in grassroots governance. Obi urged AMAC residents to vote for competence and integrity, describing Dr. Paul as a candidate with the vision to deliver measurable results.

On another occasion, Atiku Abubakar joined the campaign train, calling on voters to support the ADC’s candidate as part of efforts to strengthen democratic governance at the local level. He stressed that effective local administration is the foundation of national development.

The Gwarimpa rally marked the climax of weeks of political activities. The presence of both Atiku and Obi at the same event underscored party unity and signaled strong backing for Dr. Paul’s candidacy.

Addressing the enthusiastic crowd, Dr. Moses Paul thanked the party leadership and the electorate for their support. He pledged to run an open-door administration that would prioritize service delivery, fairness, and community participation in decision-making.

“This election is about the future of AMAC,” he said. “It is about building a council that works for everyone—young and old, traders and professionals, men and women alike.”

As the election draws near, political observers note that the ADC’s visible show of unity may energize its support base. However, the ultimate decision now rests with voters across the wards of AMAC.

With the campaign season officially winding down, all eyes are on Saturday’s polls to determine whether Dr. Moses Paul will translate his grassroots momentum and high-profile endorsements into victory at the ballot box.

The stage is set, the endorsements secured, and the message delivered. The electorate will now have the final say.
