The Department of State Services (DSS) plays a vital role in maintaining national security. Their key responsibilities include:

* Gathering intelligence to prevent and detect crimes

* Conducting investigations to protect national interests

* Collaborating with other security agencies to ensure public safety

Given the importance of their role, it is crucial for the DSS to focus on pressing security issues. In Edo State, for instance, citizens are grappling with serious problems like kidnapping, cybercrime, and ritual killings. These issues demand the DSS’s attention and action.

Instead of focusing on the arrest of an individual planning a Pan-African solidarity rally, the DSS should prioritize tackling these pressing security concerns. Winning and sustaining public confidence is essential for the DSS to effectively carry out its mandate. Let’s allow the DSS to focus on real security challenges and work towards a safer Nigeria.
