AkweyaTV has continued its efforts to promote the Akweya language and culture through its language lesson programme, introducing learners to vocabulary and pronunciation while highlighting notable personalities in the forthcoming book, The 100 Most Influential Akweya.
The book, authored by Odoh Diego Okenyodo and Idajor Maurice Ajah, features individuals recognised for their contributions and influence within the Akweya community.
In the latest episode of the Akweya Language Lesson, learners were introduced to words beginning with the letter “G (go)”, as part of efforts to deepen their understanding of the Akweya alphabet, which consists of 40 letters, from A to Nwy.
Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Ray Ikpa Featured in Influential Akweya Book
One of the personalities featured in The 100 Most Influential Akweya is Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Ray Ikpa, a Catholic priest whose ministry has included pastoral service in Nigeria and the United States.
According to the programme’s presentation, Father Ray was ordained a Catholic priest on September 25, 1989, at Our Lady of Fatima Cathedral.
He has served in several parishes and religious assignments, including St. Jarlath, Bukuru; St. John Vianney, Barkin Ladi; Holy Cross, Pankshin; and St. Brendan, Kwa. He also served in various capacities in Bauchi Diocese, including as Cathedral Administrator.
His ministry further extended to the United States, where he served as a visiting priest and ministered in parishes in Brooklyn, New York, and California, including St. Charles Borromeo Parish, North Hollywood, and Our Lady of the Rosary Parish, Paramount.
Father Ray has also held several chaplaincy responsibilities, including assignments connected to Zumuntan Mata, Catholic Scouts, God’s Precious Infant, and the Knights of St. John in the Diocese of Bauchi.
The presentation also highlighted his personal preference for pounded yam and Nngbefu soup.
The authors encouraged members of the Akweya community and the general public to look forward to the launch of The 100 Most Influential Akweya and obtain copies to discover more about prominent Akweya personalities.
