In a proactive move to safeguard the Igala Kingdom, HRM Dr. Mathew Alaji Opaluwa Oguche OFR, Ata’Igala and Chairman of the State Council of Chiefs, convened an extraordinary security meeting with his Council of Chiefs at his Palace in Idah.

The meeting, aimed at addressing the rising tide of insecurity in Igala land, brought together traditional leaders to brainstorm on strategies to tackle the menace.

In his address, the Ata Igala emphasized the need for vigilance and cooperation among stakeholders to ensure the safety and security of Igala people and their properties. He called on the Igala youth to be proactive in reporting suspicious activities and to work hand-in-hand with security agencies to nip crimes in the bud.

The Ata Igala expressed appreciation for the efforts of the government at all levels in addressing the security challenges facing the state and the nation at large. He, however, urged the authorities to intensify their efforts to ensure that Igala land remains a safe haven for all.

The meeting resolved to establish a community policing initiative, which will involve traditional leaders, youth groups, and security agencies working together to prevent and respond to security threats.

The Ata Igala also announced plans to collaborate with NGOs and international organizations to provide support to victims of insecurity and to promote community development projects.

The meeting ended with a call to action, as the Ata’Igala and his Council of Chiefs pledged to work tirelessly to protect the Igala Kingdom and ensure that it remains a place of peace, prosperity, and progress for all.
