Nigerian financial expert and tax consultant, Chief Abba Adaudu, has challenged the common perception that accountants are stingy, saying their focus is on ensuring that money and other resources are used to create value.

Adaudu made this known during a personality segment interview, where he discussed his career, community development and his views on the accounting profession.

According to him, accountants are often misunderstood because they carefully consider how resources are spent and the value that can be achieved from them.

He explained that an accountant’s concern is not simply about spending less money but about ensuring that resources are properly managed and produce meaningful results.

“Accountants are people who want to see value for money,” Adaudu said.

He added that accountants naturally consider the value created from every resource they spend, rather than being unwilling to spend money.

Adaudu said this approach becomes particularly important when public funds are involved, as resources should be used responsibly and for purposes that benefit the people.

The financial expert maintained that the perception of accountants as stingy people is therefore unfair, describing their approach as one centred on accountability, efficiency and value creation.

He noted that his own approach to finance and professional practice has been influenced by the desire to create value and build sustainable ventures.

Adaudu’s comments highlight the importance of responsible financial management, particularly in an environment where individuals, businesses and government institutions must make careful decisions about the use of limited resources.
