The Psycho-Spiritual Institute (PSI) of the Lux Terra Leadership Foundation, an affiliate of Veritas University, has graduated 32 pioneer students of its Postgraduate Diploma in Psycho-Spiritual Trauma Healing.
The graduation ceremony, held on Saturday, March 21, 2026, in Abuja, marked a significant milestone for the institute, which is focused on training professionals equipped to address trauma through an integrated psycho-spiritual approach.
Speaking at the event, the institute’s Executive Director, Rev. Fr. George Ehusani, said the programme was intentionally designed to produce not just professionals, but transformed individuals capable of facilitating healing in others.
Rev. Fr. Ehusani explained that the training model combines academic rigour with deep personal formation, ensuring that graduates emerge with both professional competence and lived experience of healing. According to him, the programme goes beyond conventional lectures and research to include practical and reflective processes such as prayer sessions, one-on-one counselling, spiritual direction, group therapy, and retreats.
“These exercises are aimed at personal healing, psycho-spiritual growth and ongoing transformation,” Ehusani said. “After two years of this PSI training encounter, candidates would have, by the grace of God, sufficiently discovered themselves.”

He emphasised that students’ assignments and research outputs are expected to reflect the institute’s unique integration of psychological, spiritual, and cultural dimensions. Ehusani also urged the graduates to uphold values of self-awareness, empathy, and continuous personal transformation as they step into professional practice.
In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor of Veritas University, Prof. Hyacinth Ichoku, represented by the Dean, Faculty of Humanities, Prof. Gabriel Egbe, commended the vision behind the initiative. He expressed confidence that the graduates would make meaningful contributions in addressing societal trauma. He charged them to apply their knowledge in real-world contexts, noting the growing need for healing across individuals and communities.
Also speaking, the Special Guest of Honour, Dr Chris Maiyaki, urged the graduates to remain committed to the institute’s mission and continue to think boldly about their impact. Maiyaki highlighted the institute’s strong foundation in faith and service as a springboard for excellence. He also advised the institute to maintain strict compliance with the standards of the National Universities Commission (NUC), particularly in staffing, curriculum development, and programme delivery.
Responding on behalf of the graduating class, the Class Representative, Dr Alex Nnadozie, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to undergo what he described as a transformative journey. He commended both the faculty and his fellow graduates for their resilience and dedication, noting that many of them are already making impact across sectors including media, law, and humanitarian work with internally displaced persons.
The graduation marks the beginning of what stakeholders described as a new wave of psycho-spiritual practitioners poised to address the growing need for trauma healing in Nigeria and beyond.See pictures from the event below.
