The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has officially unveiled Hon. Abba John Abba, Esq. as its Deputy Governorship Candidate for the 2027 Benue governorship election, completing the party’s ticket ahead of the polls.

The unveiling ceremony, held on Thursday at Nam Hall and Resort in Makurdi, drew members of the party’s National Working Committee, state executives, traditional rulers, stakeholders, supporters and other dignitaries.
Party Hails Abba’s Experience
Presenting the deputy governorship candidate, the Benue State Chairman of the ADC, Rt. Hon. Samson Okwu, described Abba as an experienced legal practitioner, administrator and grassroots politician whose emergence followed wide consultations and a transparent selection process.

Okwu said the governorship ticket of Rt. Hon. Herman Iorwase Hembe and Hon. Abba John Abba offers Benue a credible leadership option.
“The Hembe Abba ticket possesses the competence, integrity and vision required to provide purposeful leadership and restore hope to the people of Benue State,” Hon. Samson Okwu said.
Abba Accepts Nomination
In his acceptance speech, Abba John Abba described his nomination as “a call to greater service,” expressing appreciation to the party leadership for the confidence reposed in him.
He pledged his loyalty to the party and the governorship candidate, promising to work towards implementing the ADC manifesto with emphasis on security, healthcare, education, agriculture, youth empowerment and transparent governance.
“I call on every son and daughter of Benue State to join us in this noble mission of rebuilding our state. Together, we can secure our future and usher in a new era of peace, prosperity and shared progress,” Abba said.
Keynote Speaker Criticises Benue Government
Delivering the keynote address, Prof. Cletus Torkyaa criticised the administration of Governor Hyacinth Alia, alleging that it had failed to adequately tackle the security challenges confronting the state.
He lamented the continued killings in several Benue communities and urged residents to support the ADC, describing the party as a credible alternative capable of restoring security, good governance and development.
“The people deserve leadership that can restore security and rebuild confidence in governance,” Torkyaa said.

Hembe Expresses Confidence
The ADC governorship candidate, Rt. Hon. Herman Iorwase Hembe, congratulated Abba on his emergence as his running mate, expressing confidence that their partnership would strengthen the party’s campaign ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

He assured supporters that the ADC was committed to offering Benue a government founded on accountability, inclusiveness, security and sustainable development.
“We are prepared to provide Benue people with leadership that delivers accountability, security, inclusiveness and sustainable development,” Hembe said.
Focus Turns to 2027 Race
With the unveiling of Hon. Abba John Abba, the ADC has now completed its governorship ticket for the 2027 election.
Party leaders expressed optimism that the Hembe-Abba team would mount a strong challenge in the race for the Benue Government House as political activities begin to gather momentum across the state.
