The rescued victims include 163 residents of Woro Community in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State and 145 people abducted in Niger State.

Joint Security Operation Leads to Rescue

The victims were rescued from the Kainji Lake National Park Forest in New Bussa Local Government Area of Niger State following an intelligence-driven operation coordinated by the National Counter-Terrorism Centre (NCTC).

Personnel from the Armed Forces of Nigeria, the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigeria Police Force participated in the operation.

According to the Presidency, the operation marked the largest number of abducted persons rescued by the joint security team on the same day.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu commended the security agencies for what he described as their bravery, professionalism and cooperation in securing the release of the victims.
