The leadership of the Akweya Community Development Association (ACDA) has welcomed the approval of the long-awaited National Food City Project by the Benue State Executive Council.
The project is located at Ogyoma, Akpa, in Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State and is expected to create new opportunities for economic activity and employment in the area.
The National President-General of ACDA, Chief Agor Maurice Adiga (NCA), commended Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, for approving the project, describing it as an important development for the people of Zone C and the Akweya Nation.
According to Chief Agor Maurice Adiga, the project has the potential to provide employment for youths, women and men while increasing government presence in the area and strengthening security consciousness among residents.
He said the approval represented an important step towards bringing development closer to the people.

ACDA Commends Stakeholders
The ACDA leadership also acknowledged the efforts of stakeholders who contributed to the project’s approval.
Particular commendation was given to the member representing Otukpo/Akpa Constituency in the Benue State House of Assembly, Hon. Angbo Agbogo Kennedy, for what the association described as his persistence, commitment and determination to see the project through.
Chief Agor Maurice Adiga said the people of Akweya remained grateful for his efforts and wished him success in his political career.
A Victory For The Entire Akweya Nation
Chief Agor Maurice Adiga stressed that the approval should not be regarded as the achievement of one politician or community alone.
“No one should see this monumental victory as a victory for only Hon. Kennedy Angbo or the people of Ogyoma, but a victory and a liberation for the entire Akweya Nation because of its strategic and enormous advantages that our people stand to benefit.”
He said the project could have wider benefits for communities across the area, particularly through employment, economic opportunities and increased government presence.
ACDA Calls for Unity
While celebrating the development, the ACDA president appealed to members of the Akweya community to avoid inflammatory statements, animosity or actions that could create division.
He urged the people to see the approval as a collective victory and to work together to ensure that the project delivers meaningful benefits to the wider community.
For residents of Ogyoma, Akpa and surrounding communities, the approval has raised expectations that the National Food City Project will bring jobs, investment, economic opportunities and stronger government presence to the area.
