His educational journey continued at Mount Saint Michael’s Secondary School, Aliade, where he obtained his confirmation in 1968. Known for his dedication to God, Fidelis became an altar boy, avidly reading the Bible, and maintaining a pious way of life. Accepted into St Augustine’s Major Seminary, Jos, in 1973, he graduated with a Bachelor of Divinity (BD) in Philosophy & Theology.
On March 16, 1979, Fidelis was ordained a priest by Bishop Donald Joseph Murray at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Adim-Akpa. In the subsequent years, he held various positions, including Director of Orientation for Major Seminarians, mathematics teacher at St James’ Minor Seminary, and later, Assistant Parish Priest of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church Okpoga.
In 1984, Fidelis pursued postgraduate studies in Rome at the Pontifical Gregorian University, earning a Licentiate (Masters) in Spiritual Theology in 1985. He continued his studies at the Pontifical University of Saint Thomas Aquinas, Rome, obtaining another Licentiate (Masters) in Social Development in 1986. This interest in social development aligned with his belief in the church’s role in the socioeconomic lives of Christians.

Appointed parish priest of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Otukpo, in September 1986, Fidelis became known for his support of the Vocational Training Centre, fostering the growth of knitwear production in the region. His leadership extended to guiding parishioners in active participation in various societies, making St Anthony’s Society a prominent developmental group.
In July 1995, Fidelis Orgah was appointed the first Bishop of the newly created Diocese of Otukpo. As bishop, he focused on the renovation of St Francis Cathedral and the restoration of Diocesan Catholic schools. His involvement in promoting the Aokpe apparitions and supporting the Our Lady’s Pilgrimage Centre showcased his commitment to spirituality.
Despite his aspirations, Bishop Orgah passed away on December 7, 2000. His legacy lives on through the Bishop Fidelis Orgah Memorial Nursery and Primary School, Ojapo. His multilingual abilities and dedication to preaching the word of God are remembered fondly by those who knew him.
