The Federal Ministry of Sports and Youth Development has announced a new initiative aimed at providing work experience opportunities for the youth of Nigeria. In a press statement signed by the Director of Press and Public Relations, Mr. Mohammed Manga, the Ministry called for applications from qualified candidates to participate in the three-month Work Experience Programme (WEP).
The programme is in line with the government’s policy initiative to empower and support the youth in the country. It offers an opportunity for graduates, both with and without National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) experience, to gain practical work experience in their respective fields. The Ministry has set specific eligibility criteria for applicants, one of which is that candidates must not be older than 30 years of age by December 31, 2023.
The Work Experience Programme is open to candidates from various academic backgrounds. Those with degrees in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Biochemistry, Microbiology, and other related Science and Technology courses are encouraged to apply. Additionally, graduates with degrees in Business Administration, Accounting, or other relevant management and social science courses can also participate in the programme.
The Ministry has stated that the application process will be open until July 30, 2023. Interested candidates are encouraged to apply through the provided link: https://forms.gle/5FEJNZnVrSLXJgxJ8.
Highlighting the benefits of the Work Experience Programme, the Ministry stated that participants will gain practical skills, improve their employment prospects, and have the opportunity to network with potential employers during the three-month programme. The Ministry aims to equip young Nigerians with the necessary tools and experiences to enhance their lives and create avenues for future success.
Mr. Manga underscored the Ministry’s commitment to youth empowerment, adding that the initiative reflects the government’s dedication to investing in the potential of Nigerian youth.
The Work Experience Programme is expected to provide a valuable platform for young graduates to bridge the gap between academic qualifications and practical work experience, ultimately contributing to their personal and professional development.
