The Akweya community has been thrown into mourning following the death of Reverend Frederick Enenche, a respected clergyman and community figure, who passed away on Thursday, June 25, 2026, after a brief illness at Otobi, Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State. He was 58 years old.
Family sources told AkweyaTV that the late Reverend Enenche initially suffered from what was believed to be high blood pressure. However, complications reportedly arose after medication was administered, causing his blood pressure to drop significantly. He underwent treatment at home for three days before passing away on Thursday.

The deceased was widely known for his service as a Christian minister and his commitment to the spiritual growth of members of his community.
His death comes at a time when his only child, Mr Eche Johnson Fred, is celebrating a major milestone in his academic and leadership journey. Fred, who is in the village working on his final-year project in Sociology, was recently elected President of the National Association of Akweya Students (NAAS) at Rev. Fr Moses Orshio Adasu University Makurdi (MOAUM), formerly known as Benue State University.
Speaking to AkweyaTV, family Eche described his father as a devoted husband, father, and servant of God whose life touched many people through ministry and personal counsel.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs Mary Enenche, and his only child, Fred.

News of his passing has sparked an outpouring of condolences from friends, relatives, church members, and members of the Akweya student community, many of whom have taken to social media and private messages to express sympathy to the bereaved family.
Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced by the family in the coming days.
The management and staff of AkweyaTV extend heartfelt condolences to the Enenche family and pray for strength and comfort for them during this difficult time.
