The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has commended Dunamis International Gospel Centre for constructing a pedestrian bridge along the busy Airport Road in Abuja, describing the project as a practical contribution to public safety and community development.
Nyesom Wike made the commendation on Friday 30th Ocotober 2026, during the commissioning of the bridge, located near the church’s headquarters, the 100,000 capacity Glory Dome in Abuja.
He said the project demonstrated how religious institutions, private organisations and individuals could complement government efforts by investing in infrastructure that addresses the needs of residents.
The minister Nyesom Wike praised the Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Dr Paul Enenche, and his wife, Dr Becky Enenche, for committing church resources to a project aimed at protecting lives and improving public welfare.

According to Nyesom Wike, leadership should be demonstrated through actions that make a positive difference in people’s lives, rather than through promises and declarations.
He disclosed that the church first applied for approval to construct the bridge in 2018, but the request was brought to his attention in February 2026 after the church renewed its application. Approval was subsequently granted within a month.

To encourage similar community driven projects, Nyesom Wike announced that the FCT Administration would cover 50 per cent of the total cost incurred by the church in constructing the bridge.
He stressed that government could not provide every service and infrastructure required by citizens without support from other sectors, Partnerships with religious institutions, businesses and individuals were important for community development.

The minister Nyesom Wike also urged Nigerians to assess public office holders based on their actual contributions and achievements rather than relying solely on political discussions and unverified claims on social media.
He expressed concern about pedestrians who ignore designated crossing facilities and risk their lives by crossing busy expressways instead of using available pedestrian bridges. He encouraged residents to make use of such facilities to reduce the risk of road accidents.

Earlier, the Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Dr Paul Enenche, said the church embarked on the project following concerns over frequent fatal accidents involving pedestrians along the Airport Road corridor.
He explained that the decision reflected the church’s belief that its responsibility extended beyond spiritual activities to practical efforts that improve people’s lives.
Enenche disclosed that the church plans to install protective coverings, security lighting and transparent side panels on the bridge to shield users from harsh weather conditions and encourage more pedestrians to use the facility.
He also called on individuals and leaders to use their positions and resources to address societal challenges, stressing that people should be remembered for the problems they solved and the positive impact they made rather than the wealth they accumulated.

The Senator representing the FCT, Ireti Kingibe, also commended the church for its contribution to public safety and community development.
She described the ministry as a beacon of light, praising its decision to translate its religious values into an initiative that benefits the wider community.
Ireti Kingibe urged residents, religious institutions and community leaders to work together towards building a safer and more peaceful Federal Capital Territory.
