AkweyaTV has continued its promotion of the Akweya language and cultural heritage with another edition of its Akweya Language Lesson programme, while introducing viewers to one of the personalities featured in the forthcoming book, The 100 Most Influential Akweya.
The programme, which focuses on the Akweya alphabet and vocabulary, introduced learners to words beginning with the letter “I”, with emphasis on their pronunciation and usage.
The Akweya alphabet consists of 40 letters, from A to Nwy, and the language lesson programme is designed to help learners become familiar with the sounds, words and expressions of the language.
Before proceeding with the lesson, the programme introduced The 100 Most Influential Akweya, a forthcoming publication authored by Odo Diego Okenyodo, which documents notable Akweya personalities and their contributions to the community.
One of the personalities featured in the book is Dr Pius Odengle, an indigene of Ogyoma in Akpa District of Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State.
Dr Odengle attended St. Paul’s Secondary School, Otukpo, from 1977 to 1978, and later Idoma Community Secondary School, Otobi, where he studied from 1978 to 1981.
He was part of the 1988 graduating class of Medical and Dental students at the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan, Nigeria.
Dr Odengle subsequently worked at Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Zaria, where he pursued his medical profession.
According to the profile presented on the programme, Dr Odengle has distinguished himself through his commitment to providing medical care, particularly to people in rural communities.
The programme noted that he has attended to patients regardless of their ability to pay, while his visits to Akweya communities during leave and holiday periods have often provided opportunities for medical outreach.

His presence in the villages, the programme stated, is often welcomed by residents seeking medical attention from across Akweya communities.
The feature on Dr Odengle forms part of AkweyaTV’s broader effort to document and celebrate individuals whose contributions have made an impact on Akweya society.
The programme encouraged viewers and members of the Akweya community to look forward to discovering more personalities featured in The 100 Most Influential Akweya and to obtain copies when the book is launched.
The programme thereafter returned to the Akweya language lesson, continuing with words beginning with the letter “I” and their pronunciation.
