A new wave of hope is emerging as the Ark and Rainbow Development Foundation (ARDEF) launches The Loud Vote Project, a digital advocacy campaign designed to inspire Nigerians, particularly young women, to take a more active role in the country’s electoral process.

The initiative seeks to encourage citizens to move beyond simply watching elections to becoming informed, engaged and responsible participants who can contribute to free, fair and secure elections.
At the heart of the campaign are 20 young women ambassadors, known as The Loud 20, who will use social media and public engagement to promote electoral participation, accountability and citizen security.
The project builds on ARDEF’s SHAPPE and SHAPE fellowship programmes, which trained young women leaders in 2025. Through further training in digital advocacy, the ambassadors will help create conversations that encourage citizens to understand their rights and responsibilities within Nigeria’s democratic process.
One of the major activities is The Loud Conversation, a two-hour live discussion on X scheduled for October 1. The conversation will bring together experts in governance, democracy, civic participation, security and development to discuss issues such as vote buying, electoral security, institutional accountability and the role of young people and women in democracy.
Project Manager, Faith Kaminus, said the campaign is based on the belief that citizens have an important role to play in shaping the electoral environment. She encouraged Nigerians to “sign, share, speak up and stay engaged” while calling on institutions to uphold accountability and electoral integrity.

The campaign will also feature a public petition, giving citizens an opportunity to express their concerns and support calls for credible elections.
With hashtags including #TheLoudVote, #SecureOurVote and #NaijaWatching, ARDEF hopes to turn individual voices into a collective movement for greater civic participation.

As Nigeria looks towards the 2027 general elections, The Loud Vote Project offers a hopeful reminder that democracy is strengthened when citizens are informed, courageous and willing to participate. By giving young women a stronger voice in electoral conversations, the initiative seeks to build a future where every citizen understands that their voice, their vote and their participation can help shape the country they hope to see.
