Nigerian gospel singer Olayemi Bayonile Bolaji, popularly known as ToluwaniSings, has died at the age of 41 after reportedly being taken to between seven and eight hospitals in Ibadan, Oyo State, in a desperate effort to secure medical attention.
His personal assistant, Babadunni Gbolabo Olayemi, said the singer suddenly slumped on the morning of Wednesday, October 14, 2026, prompting those around him to seek emergency medical care.
According to Babadunni Gbolabo Olayemi, some hospitals reportedly declined to admit the singer, while others cited the unavailability of doctors due to an ongoing strike.

Speaking about the incident on Thursday, the personal assistant said he was not present when ToluwaniSings slumped but rushed to the scene after receiving a call.
“I am the PA to ToluwaniSings. When it happened in the morning, I wasn’t here, so they called me and I came,” he said.
He explained that the singer had appeared healthy before the incident and that attempts were made to revive him before he was taken to several hospitals.

“There was nothing wrong with him. He was very fine and in perfect condition. He just slumped. They tried to resuscitate him,” Babadunni said.
He added that the team encountered difficulties while seeking medical attention.
“They took him to some hospitals, but they were giving excuses. Some said doctors were not working because of the strike. Some did not admit him at all,” he said.
According to him, the team visited between seven and eight hospitals in Ibadan but was unable to secure the treatment they had hoped for.
The singer’s body has since been taken to a mortuary, while the family is expected to decide on funeral arrangements after consultations.
His family had earlier confirmed his death in a statement released on Wednesday, describing him as a beloved husband, family member and gospel minister. The family also appealed to the public to remember his wife, children and other loved ones in their prayers.
The cause of his death has not been officially disclosed.
Tributes Pour In For Gospel Minister
ToluwaniSings’ death has drawn tributes from colleagues, entertainers and fans who celebrated his music and the impact of his ministry.
Comedian Ayo Ajewole, popularly known as Woli Agba, described the loss as “sunset at midday”, expressing grief over the death of a voice that brought inspiration and joy to many.
Filmmaker Funke Akindele also mourned the singer, describing him as a humble and hardworking gentleman and praying for strength and comfort for his family.
Survived Road Accident In July
The singer’s death comes months after he and members of his team survived a road accident in July 2026 while returning from a ministration.
At the time, ToluwaniSings shared footage of the incident on social media and expressed gratitude that everyone escaped unharmed. He said a fully loaded trailer could have crushed their vehicle.
Known for his energetic gospel praise songs, ToluwaniSings built a following among worshippers through tracks including A Very Big God, Onibuore, Eleda and I’m Not Alone.
He reportedly performed at a worship event on Tuesday, October 13, a day before his death.
He is survived by his wife and two children. His death is a painful loss to Nigeria’s gospel music community and the many people who found encouragement and inspiration in his music.
