In a candid revelation on the social media platform X, renowned activist Aisha Yesufu shared an intriguing tale of love and determination. Yesufu unveiled the story of how she pursued the man who would later become her life partner, shedding light on their unique love journey.

On Friday, 22 December 2023, in response to another post, Aisha, recalling the memorable period, humorously stated, “My husband can attest to this without hesitation. I spotted him, felt an undeniable connection, and ardently pursued him. It took a dedicated eight months for him to reciprocate those feelings!” She further revealed that this romantic endeavour with the now-62-year-old Mr Aliu Osigwe Yesufu spanned a timeframe from December 13th, 1996, to April 17th, 1998, amounting to a 16-month project.

The post Ms Yesufu was responding to was about the world’s most decorated gymnast, 26-year-old Simone Biles, whose husband, the American football star Jonathan James Owens, revealed in a video that he was “the catch” as he didn’t know who she was at the time of their first meeting.

Yesufu doesnt believe in ladies playing hard to get, nor waiting to be approaches by men. At the time of their fateful encounter, Yesufu was 23 years old, while her future spouse was 35. With playful banter, she said often teases him about her proactive approach, jesting, “Had I not taken the initiative, he might’ve missed out on something great!” In a light-hearted rebuttal, her husband fondly reminds her that his deliberation ensured he met her while still single.

Emphasising her independent mindset, Yesufu conveyed a powerful message about self-worth and agency in relationships. “I’ve never subscribed to the notion of passively waiting for a man’s attention,” she asserted, highlighting her belief in choosing a partner based on genuine compatibility rather than societal expectations.

Remarkably, her contentment with singlehood had defied many expectations, making her eventual marriage a delightful surprise to those around her.
