According to the statement, an unidentified individual transferred money into one of Atiku’s private accounts with the narration, “Contribution Electioneering Campaign.”

Atiku Abubakar said neither he nor his campaign organization solicited or approved the payment.

He also said he had no knowledge of the sender and described the transaction as disturbing because the affected account was private and its details were not publicly available.

Concerns Over Banking Information

The ADC candidate questioned how an unknown person was able to obtain the confidential banking information.

He warned that the incident raises wider concerns about the security of Nigerians’ financial information, particularly if sensitive details belonging to a former vice president and presidential candidate could allegedly be accessed without consent.

Atiku also raised the possibility that the information may have been obtained through individuals with privileged access to confidential data.

Warning Over Security Risks

The former vice president cautioned that unauthorised disclosure of banking details could expose account holders to serious security threats.

“If established, this would amount to a grave abuse of power capable of exposing the account holder to kidnappers, terrorists, bandits, fraudsters and other criminal elements,” the statement said.

Atiku Abubakar said he had brought the matter to the attention of Nigerians and relevant security agencies.

Atiku Warns Against Political Distraction

He described the incident as one of several suspicious developments emerging ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Atiku Abubakar also urged Nigerians not to be distracted by what he described as attempts to damage his reputation as political activities intensify.
