FUEL PRICES RISE AS CSOs DEMAND TRANSPARENCY
What happened
Dangote Petroleum Refinery raised its petrol gantry price from ₦1,185 to ₦1,200 per litre on 26 August, following a ₦20 increase five days earlier. IPMAN spokesperson Chinedu Ukadike said marketers were adjusting pump prices as replacement costs rose. Petrol is now selling around ₦1,250 to ₦1,300 per litre in some locations.

NLC, HURIWA, CISLAC and ActionAid Nigeria have questioned whether consumers are receiving adequate protection under deregulation.

FG LAUNCHES 1 BILLION DOLLAR SOCIAL PROTECTION PROGRAMME
What happened
The Federal Government launched the 1 billion dollar Household Prosperity and Economic Social Protection Project HOPE SP on 27 August through the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction. The programme targets vulnerable households and aims to move support from short term palliatives toward sustainable livelihoods.

668,000 ELECTRICITY METERS INSTALLED

ACTIONAID CHALLENGES POLITICAL INTIMIDATION IN KUJE
