For the Rotary Club of Arepo Longbridge, community service is taking on a renewed meaning as President Godfrey Oboh sets his sights on a future filled with practical interventions, stronger fellowship and greater impact.
At the heart of Oboh’s vision is a simple idea: communities deserve more than promises. They deserve actions that bring visible and lasting change.
Under his leadership, the club is looking to identify real needs within its communities and respond with projects that give people reasons to hope. From supporting young people to reaching beneficiaries who need assistance, the emphasis is on turning service into something people can see, feel and experience.
“We will seek opportunities to touch lives in practical and sustainable ways, particularly in areas where our communities need us most,” Oboh said.
His vision goes beyond projects. He wants to build a club where members feel connected, valued and inspired to serve.
For Oboh, a strong organization is one in which people learn together, celebrate together and stand beside one another when help is needed.
“A strong club is one where members celebrate together, learn together, serve together and stand by one another in times of need,” he said.
That sense of unity could also open the door for more people to become part of the club’s humanitarian efforts. Oboh is encouraging members to share the Rotary story and invite others who are willing to contribute their time, skills and resources to improving lives.
But perhaps the most powerful part of his vision is his understanding that meaningful change cannot be achieved by one person alone.

Oboh has pledged to listen, consult and work alongside members, recognizing that the strength of community service lies in people coming together around a shared purpose.
“I may not have all the answers, but I promise that I will always be willing to learn, consult and work with you,” he said.
It Is a vision built on purpose, unity, growth and service—and on the belief that even small acts of kindness can become significant when people work together.
For the communities the Rotary Club of Arepo Longbridge serves, that commitment offers something beyond projects and programmes.
It offers hope.
Hope that young people will find greater opportunities. Hope that vulnerable people will receive support. Hope that communities will see their needs addressed. And hope that ordinary people, working together, can create extraordinary change.
As Oboh puts it, the real measure of leadership will not be the title attached to his name, but the lives touched, the people inspired and the difference made.
And perhaps that is what “Service Above Self” truly means: leaving every community a little stronger, every beneficiary a little more hopeful, and every life touched with a reason to believe that better days are possible.
