Residents of Edumoga in Okpokwu Local Government Area of Benue State have been thrown into mourning following a heartbreaking tragedy that claimed the lives of Dr. Joseph Ejeh and his sister, Mrs. Alice Ejeh, barely days after the burial of his wife, Mrs. Janet Abu Ejeh. The remains of Dr Joseph Ejeh and Mrs Alice Ejeh are set to be laid to rest on Thursday, 2nd July 2026.

‎Mrs. Janet Abu Ejeh, a native of Olaidu Edumoga in Okpokwu LGA, Benue State, was laid to rest on June 10, 2026. Her husband, Dr. Joseph Ejeh, who hailed from Effiom Edumoga in Okpokwu LGA and worked as a medical doctor in Minna, Niger State, returned to Minna after the burial alongside his children and his sister, Mrs. Alice Ejeh.

‎According to information gathered by AkweyaTV correspondent, Edwin Amola, the family spent the night at Dr. Ejeh’s residence in Minna. The following day, Dr. Ejeh was taking his sister to her residence within Niger State when their vehicle reportedly collided with a trailer parked by the roadside.

‎The crash claimed the life of Mrs. Alice Ejeh instantly, while Dr. Joseph Ejeh and one of his sons sustained serious injuries. Both victims were rushed to a hospital for emergency treatment.

Dr. Ejeh was taking his sister to her residence within Niger State when their vehicle reportedly collided with a trailer parked by the roadside.

‎Despite efforts by medical personnel to save him, Dr. Ejeh reportedly succumbed to his injuries the following day. His son, who was also involved in the accident, remains in critical condition and is receiving medical care.

‎The tragic development has left family members, friends, colleagues, and the entire Edumoga community in shock and grief. The incident is particularly painful as it occurred only days after the family gathered to bid farewell to Mrs. Janet Abu Ejeh.

‎Sympathisers have continued to express condolences to the Ejeh and Abu families while offering prayers for the recovery of the injured child and strength for all those affected by the devastating loss.
‎Dr. Joseph Ejeh was from Effiom Edumoga, Okpokwu LGA, Benue State, while his late wife, Mrs. Janet Abu Ejeh, was from Olaidu Edumoga, Okpokwu LGA, Benue State.
