The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has suspended Nollywood actress Adanma Luke from working as a producer, and her movie “Another Side of Life” has been suspended indefinitely. This is coming after the tragic boat mishap that claimed the lives of popular Nollywood actor Jnr. Pope Odonwodo and four crew members on April 10, 2024.

Jnr. Pope, his colleague, TC Okafor, and some crew members were involved in a boat accident at the waterside of the River Niger Cable Point in Asaba, Delta State, while on set for the movie “Another Side of Life,” being produced by Nollywood actress Adanma Luke.

Jnr. Pope was confirmed dead after his body had been taken around different places in a bid to revive him.

This incident created an uproar in the media, with fans calling for the banning of the Asaba branch of Nollywood, popularly called “Asabawood.”

Following the incident, the AGN and its leadership have suspended the filming of movies involving riverine areas and boat riding indefinitely.

The statement, which was signed by the AGN president, Mr. Emeka Rollas, reads, “Following the tragic incident of a boat mishap that claimed the lives of Junior Pope and three other crew members at the waterside of River Niger Cable Point Asaba on April 10, all films that involve riverine areas and boat riding are hereby suspended indefinitely.

“The film titled ‘Another Side of Life’ is suspended indefinitely.

“Also, no actor is allowed to work with Adamma Luke as a producer till further notice.”
