There seems to be a deliberate and coordinated attempt by some members within the All Progressives Congress (APC) and elements of the opposition in Kogi East to demarket Senator Jibrin Isah Echocho, with unnecessary comparisons. Despite these distractions, it is important to acknowledge his contributions and the commendable strides he has made both in public service and in his private capacity.

Senator Echocho, who represents the nine local government areas of Kogi East—including Dekina, the largest LGA in the state—has done his best to deliver on his mandate. His impact spans across various sectors, and his developmental footprints are visible in several communities. His background as a banker of repute speaks volumes; even before venturing into politics, he created job opportunities and empowered many, showing genuine commitment to the well-being of his people.

As a senator, he has also contributed meaningfully through legislative advocacy, empowerment programs, and infrastructural interventions across his constituency. However, one noticeable gap has been in the area of media engagement. Many of his constituents remain unaware of the numerous achievements he has recorded due to limited publicity and direct communication.

We appreciate Senator Echocho for all he has done so far. But in this age of information and perception, we encourage him to step up his media presence and communication strategy. Regular updates, community engagement, and strategic use of media platforms will go a long way in bridging the information gap and countering false narratives.

The people of Kogi East need to see more, hear more, and know more about what their senator is doing. And with better engagement, the truth will always speak louder than propaganda.
