AkweyaTV: As you celebrate 50 years of life, what would you say have been the defining moments that shaped your faith, your character, and ultimately your calling into ministry?
Apostle Agbenyi Agbenyi: Thank you very much, and thank you for this platform. What AkweyaTV is doing is significant work, and I encourage you never to relent. Sacrifice pays, and by the grace of God, we are reaping the rewards of past sacrifices.
My walk with God began more than 26 years ago. The single most defining moment occurred on April 16, 2000, when I first stepped into Dunamis International Gospel Centre at Area 1, Abuja, and surrendered my life to Jesus Christ. Prior to that day, my life lacked real focus and direction. The moment I encountered God’s presence, clarity, purpose, and divine alignment rushed in.
I immediately submitted myself to the foundational and maturity training platforms established by the church. By September 2000, I was appointed to lead the Prayer Band. Those first five to ten years at Dunamis were the crucible that forged my character, faith, and ministerial fiber.
It was an intensely demanding season. Materially and financially, things were so difficult that merely fending for ourselves was a major struggle. Yet, my entire life was absorbed in prayer. Under our father in the Lord, Dr. Paul Enenche, there was no room for complacency. He would look us in the eye and say: “If you are a leader and any member of your department is more zealous or on fire than you, hand over your leadership immediately. You are not qualified to lead if you cannot lead by example.”
I lived on a perpetual 24-hour fast, eating only one meal a day.
That mandate put me on my toes. The prayer band met daily to pray for four hours. Because I had to lead by example, I would return home and pray an additional four to six hours. For the first five years of my Christian journey, I spent between five to ten—sometimes twelve—hours every single day in prayer. I lived on a perpetual 24-hour fast, eating only one meal a day.

Alongside prayer was intense intellectual and spiritual feeding. Dr. Paul instructed us to read a book every week and complete 40 chapters of the Bible every day. I took that instruction literally. To achieve that pace, I read 50 pages or several chapters of books daily and traversed the entire Bible repeatedly. We lived a hidden, indoor life of radical self-development and intercession. Nobody knew what was happening behind the scenes, but that labour in the secret place reshaped my destiny forever.
AkweyaTV: What was the inspiration or experience that led you to establish Pistos International Intercessory Ministry, and what did you envision when the ministry began?
Apostle Agbenyi Agbenyi: During those years of intense seeking, a supernatural spirit of prayer rested heavily upon me. I could stand and pray uninterrupted for an entire day or through the night without growing weary. Curiously, I did not yet realise I had a ministerial call; I only knew I possessed an insatiable hunger to pray.
In May 2005, right in the middle of extended prayer, I heard God’s audible voice say: “I am sending you on a secular training for seven years.” That instruction opened the door to my formal education, technical training, and professional career. That very same month, a close friend who was launching a ministry invited me to sit down with him. As he shared his vision and asked me to join his assignment, I suddenly sensed a physical presence standing directly behind me, and an audible voice rang out: “Don’t bury your destiny at the foot of another man’s vision.” That warning became an immovable compass for my life.
That same year, major international doors swung wide open simultaneously; invitations to relocate to Canada, Australia, and Holland. The door to Holland was an invitation from a Christian ministry where all I needed was an air ticket. In the eyes of the world, going abroad would have meant immediate financial prosperity and a shiny, visible life. But God had already said: “Seven years of secular training.”
I stayed. Miraculously, an IT firm hired me for a position I had never even applied for, funded my education, and covered my fees. Over those seven years, I was thoroughly trained, deploying over 200 VSAT network sites, working with Galaxy Backbone, and serving among the technical crew on the NigComSat project.
When the seven-year mandate elapsed around 2012, divine signals began to shift. God made it unequivocally clear that the season had arrived to transition out of the corporate world into full-time ministry. Naturally, I hesitated and contemplated the weight of such a step. Then, the Lord spoke to me again in an audible voice—an encounter too sacred to fully unpack in public—which removed every lingering hesitation. By 2014, I took the leap into full-time ministry.
Out of that direct divine guidance came Pistos International Intercessory Ministry. The vision from day one was clear: to build an altar of relentless prayer, provide spiritual counseling and biblical direction to burdened souls, and raise believers anchored in righteousness and intercessory stamina.
