The National Association of Akweya Students (NAAS), Rev. Fr. Moses Orshio Adasu University Makurdi (MOAUM) chapter, has announced a change in the date for its forthcoming First Year Brothers (FYB) Send-Forth Ceremony.
The decision was reached during a general meeting held on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at the Maths & Computer Department, First Campus of the former Benue State University, now known as Rev. Fr. Moses Orshio Adasu University Makurdi.
According to a communique issued at the end of the meeting, the event, initially scheduled for October 10, 2026, has been shifted to October 17, 2026. The shift was necessitated by a clash with the send-forth programme of the University of Agriculture, Makurdi (UAM). The association noted that the adjustment would allow members and invited guests to participate fully in both events.
Election Timetable Announced
In addition to the send-forth arrangements, the association has fixed October 10, 2026, for its forthcoming leadership election. The electoral process is open to interested members from 200 to 500 levels. The meeting emphasised the need for a transparent and inclusive process to encourage student participation in the leadership of the association.
Financial Contributions and Unity
Discussions also centred on the financial requirements for the upcoming ceremony. Members were reminded of the ₦2,000 contribution to facilitate a successful event.
According to the chapter President, Eche Johnson Fred, the members deliberated on strategies to revitalise the association. Key priorities include encouraging greater participation from students across all levels, improving attendance at meetings, and fostering unity.

A total of 14 members were present at the meeting. Key figures in attendance included the National President, Odah Nathaniel, and Justina Enyima (The Oyo).
The National President was unavoidably absent as he was represented at the burial of the mother of one of the association’s members.
Future Outlook
The association has outlined six major priorities moving forward: successfully hosting the FYB Send-Forth on October 17, ensuring members fulfill their financial obligations, conducting a smooth election on October 10, and strengthening the spirit of unity and participation within NAAS.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to building a stronger and more active association for the benefit of all Akweya students at MOAUM.
