Consortium Targets 4,000 Observers

The consortium comprises Dataphyte Foundation, Yiaga Africa, BudgIT Foundation, the Centre for Journalism Innovation and Development (CJID) and DEAN Initiative.

Dataphyte Foundation Country Director, Oluseyi Olufemi, said the platform would use automated technology and artificial intelligence to collect and analyse election results published on INEC’s Result Viewing Portal (IReV).

The consortium plans to deploy more than 4,000 observers to monitor polling units and result collation during the elections.

CCND Demands Electoral Transparency

Concerned Citizens for Nigerian Democracy (CCND) urged INEC to investigate allegations of political affiliations among some electoral personnel and ensure impartiality in their appointments.

Co-convener, Kingdom Okere, warned that declining public confidence could threaten national stability if voters considered the election results manipulated.

The group also demanded that INEC upload polling-unit results to IReV within two hours of counting, publish collation forms at every level and guarantee candidates equal access to campaign venues.

Utomi Questions Voter Register Images

Separately, political economist Professor Pat Utomi questioned the credibility of the electoral process following reports of suspected artificial intelligence-generated photographs in INEC’s online voter register.1

Utomi warned that the discovery raised concerns about the verification of voter information, transparency and accountability ahead of the 2027 general elections. He said INEC could not afford to handle issues relating to electoral credibility carelessly.
